Welcome!

Cameron is a Bachelor of Music graduate from the James Morrison Academy (University of South Australia). In 2017, in addition to graduating among the top of his class, the Academy recognized his prodigious talent and work ethic by awarding him ‘Most Improved Third Year Student’.

In September of 2018 Cameron took up a scholarship offer to study at the renowned Berklee College of Music, Boston (USA), one of the biggest contemporary music colleges in the world. He aims to audition for the Masters program offered by the Global Institute of Jazz.

Cameron honed his artistic skills by studying and performing with some of the finest Australian and international jazz educators including James Morrison, Carl Mackay, Matt Jodrell, Angela Davis, David Jones, Troy Roberts, Ross Irwin and Sam Anning. He has also been given the opportunity to study under several notable international artists who guided Cameron in his musicianship, including Jeff Clayton (USA), Wycliffe Gordon (USA), Julien Bliss (UK) and Will Vinson (USA).

Cameron’s main artistic influences come from the very roots of jazz music; traditional jazz, early swing, and big bands. He has cultivated this passion throughout high school and university, playing in concert bands and tertiary level big bands, as well as creating and leading several small groups that focus in on encompassing the sound that was born out of New Orleans.

Cameron has lead several of his own ensembles, including ‘The Stray Hats’ and ‘The Chesslords’. These bands perform Cameron’s arrangements of legendary jazz standards and his own compositions, with a focus on the traditional New Orleans music genre. During his time in Boston he has become an ‘All-star’ member of one of the finest emerging swing collectives; ‘The Garden of Joy’. Cameron has been an active member since 2019 and both plays and writes for the ensemble, who have already begun touring and plan to release their debut album in early 2020.
